Job Description:

The Fleet Science Center is San Diego’s only interactive science center and home to the world’s first Giant IMAX Dome Theater. With more than 400,000 visitors annually, we’re proud to be the most visited museum in Balboa Park. The Fleet opened in 1973 and is now evolving into a dynamic county-wide organization dedicated to building and supporting communities rich in science learning. We connect people of all ages to the possibilities and power of science to create a better future.

THE JOB:

We are looking for the perfect individual to be a Manager on Duty to provide leadership and direct supervision to our frontline staff. Our new Manager on Dutywill bring a wealth of knowledge and the leadership skills necessary to lead this group of employees into the future. This position actively supports our mission and goals by:

  • Efficiently supervise all frontline operations and cash handling policies and procedures and ensures that staff correctly adheres to them.
  • Assisting the Ticketing Manger by providing leadership and direct supervision for leads, cashiers, information desk volunteers and staff for the café, store and other frontline staff.
    • Serving as the central point-of-contact for customer service, cash related requests, emergencies, and general frontline staff guidance.
    • Ensuring that guest concerns are addressed in a professional and courteous manner.

  • A passion for our mission
  • Minimum of one year experience in a supervisor position responsible for customer service, cash handling and staff supervision. Previous experience in a theater, museum, or other public attraction preferred.
  • Strong ability to multi-task effectively.
  • Demonstrated attention-to-detail and follow-through.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • The ability to work a flexible schedule to include: days, nights, weekends, holidays and overnight shifts as needed
