Job Description:

The Fleet Science Center is San Diego’s only interactive science center and home to the world’s first Giant IMAX Dome Theater.With more than 400,000 visitors annually, we’re proud to be the most visited museum in Balboa Park.The Fleet opened in 1973 and is now evolving into a dynamic county-wide organization dedicated to building and supporting communities rich in science learning. We connect people of all ages to the possibilities and power of science to create a better future.


We are on a journey to find a dynamic, passionate, experienced individual to support the Chief Executive Officer, the Board of Directors and the Chief Operating Officer. This position requires a high level of discretion, tact and diplomacy and actively supports our mission and goals by:

  • Managing the CEO’s schedule and coordinating meetings and travel schedule.
  • Managing the CEO’s and COO’s office during absences and acts as a point of contact for all internal and external communication.
  • Supporting the Fleet’s Board of Directors in advance of meetings, during meetings and follow-up to Board items.
  • Ensuring legal contracts, letters of agreement and confidential documents for the CEO, COO and the Board of Directors are maintained and easily accessible.
  • Effectively managing large and small-scale administrative projects ensuring timelines are observed and project outcomes meet/or exceed expectations.

Experience and Skills:


If you are the ideal candidate, you will be a driver of change, passionate about strategically creating new programs, a stickler for compliance and hyper-focused on providing incredible experiences for our internal teams and our external visitors.In addition you will have:

  • A minimum of 5 years of related experience in an executive-level support position
  • A minimum of 2 years of related experience working the Board of Directors
  • Stellar communication skills (both orally and in writing)
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills
  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
