Job Description:

The Fleet Science Center is San Diego’s only interactive science center and home to the world’s first Giant IMAX Dome Theater. With more than 400,000 visitors annually, we’re proud to be the most visited museum in Balboa Park. The Fleet opened in 1973 and is now evolving into a dynamic county-wide organization dedicated to building and supporting communities rich in science learning. We connect people of all ages to the possibilities and power of science to create a better future.


We are looking for someone who absolutely loves making other people happy! This person will service current members and sell new memberships, serves as a resource for other cashiers at the Ticket Counter and helps with processing membership data entry. Our new Member Services Representative will bring a high level of excitement and commitment to the new Fleet!

This position actively supports our mission and goals by:

  • Serving current members in person and over the telephone by accepting IMAX Vouchers, selling tickets, answering questions and occasionally making IMAX/planetarium reservations.
  • Providing information on membership issues for other Ticketing Counter staff.
  • Handling cash including accepting cash, checks and credit cards; totaling register balance; bank and safe deposits; and completing detailed reports and summaries of sales and other financial information.
  • Assisting in entering membership and financial information into database, and preparing it for speedy processing of cards and vouchers.
  • Helping other Ticketing Counter staff with non-members.

Experience and Skills:


If you are the ideal candidate you will have:

  • A passion for our mission and a love of helping people
  • One year experience in cash handling
  • One year customer service experience in retail or entertainment attraction
  • Strong mathematical skills
  • Availability to work nights, weekends and holidays
